What is BLS CPR? This is a common question among nursing students, dental hygiene students, medical students, physical therapy program students, and any other student entering a healthcare related college program. BLS stands for Basic Life Support. BLS, Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers, is a specialized CPR class for medical professionals.

For example, if you are a nursing student attending Aquinas School of Nursing, Vanderbilt School of Nursing, Belmont School of Nursing, Lipscomb School of Nursing, Middle Tennessee School of Nursing, NashvilleStateCommunity College – Nursing, or TennesseeStateUniversity, you will be required to become BLS certified prior to participating in your clinical experience. In healthcare settings, students in clinical and professionals have access to more equipment to use during CPR than lay people in the community.
